TravelHub

As a Product Owner

I was responsible for developments and deliveries. I applied the scrum framework and organised the ceremonies. Next to that I participate in business conversations on a very regular basis to help outline our strategy and plan on where we want to be with the product. I'm responsible - with input from business and technology - for priority setting.

Personal achievements:

  • Building the connection to the payment platform of Ingenico  in India
  • Building the connection to an existing GDS (Amadeus). By reducing and simplifying the technical set up we could more easily expand to new markets (like India)
  • Building an API on the TravelHub so external parties can connect to it instead of the other way around (which is more common with bigger GDS')

Background story on the TravelHub

The TravelHub is a solution that is designed and developed for the purpose to support Airlines and Travel Agencies (OTA) as well as Hotels (PMS) to reduce complexity in the payment ecosystem.

By implementing the connections to the biggest GDS (global distribution systems) and the different payment gateways, a travel merchant can easily connect and benefit the routing capabilities the TravelHub support.

The TravelHub fulfills a need where global players like airlines are, to route transactions to a payment gateway that would provide the best conversion possible and help grow their business and revenue. Routing could be done on anything, but most common ones are currency, country, amount and risk.

Description

  • Ingenico Group

  • June 2019

Travelhub is a routing/orchestration engine that receives payment request from one side and turn them into payment request that the payment gateways on the right side understand .

In between, there is routing logic that can automatically route transaction to a specific gateway in order to drive conversion.

Example business case; If the payment request contains the currency 'INR' automatically it would redirect the customer to the Indian gateway and provide him or her with the payment methods Indian customers are familiar with.
